Asylum: Housing
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many irregular migrants have been housed in each UK region this year.
Answered by Alex Norris
The Home Office provides support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 to asylum seekers and their dependants who would otherwise be destitute in order to comply with its legal obligations.
The Home Office publishes statistics on a quarterly basis detailing the number of supported asylum seekers accommodated in each region. These statistics can be found in at Immigration system statistics data tables - GOV.UK Asylum seekers in receipt of Home Office support detailed datasets, year ending March 2026.
