Brain Cancer: Clinical Trials
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what information his Department holds on the number of clinical trials relating to brain tumours that are currently recruiting participants in England.

The Department is supporting the delivery of brain tumour clinical trials through the National Institute for Health and Care Research, (NIHR) which funds research and research infrastructure to support patients and the public to participate in high-quality research. The NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN) supports the delivery of health and social care research, including recruitment to clinical trials and other types of research study, in all NHS trusts in England.
There are 52 brain tumour studies on the NIHR RDN portfolio which are currently open and recruiting in England, 32 of which are interventional studies. This information is taken from studies held on the NIHR RDN’s Central Portfolio Management System.
The Department is committed to ensuring that all patients, including those with brain tumours, have access to cutting-edge clinical trials and innovative, lifesaving treatments. We are working to fast-track clinical trials to drive global investment into life sciences, improve health outcomes, and accelerate the development of medicines and therapies of the future, including treatments for brain tumours.
The NIHR provides an online service called Be Part of Research, which promotes participation in health and social care research by allowing users to search for relevant studies and register their interest.
