To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what steps she is taking to help tackle the larger criminal networks behind the sales of counterfeit goods through effective policing.

The Government is tackling counterfeit goods linked to organised crime through a coordinated, intelligence led approach. We support specialist policing capability, including the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit, and strengthened joint working between Police, Trading Standards, and Border Force to disrupt large criminal networks. Enforcement agencies take targeted action to seize goods, shut down illegal operations and disrupt online sales.
Through the Intellectual Property Office’s Counter Infringement Strategy, we are improving intelligence sharing, training and regional coordination to ensure a more effective, joined up response to organised counterfeit supply chains both domestically and internationally.
