To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, whether prisoners who are engaged in work make contributions to their pension funds.

Prisoners can normally make voluntary contributions to their own existing private pension, in line with the rules of their scheme or terms of contract, and subject to proceeds of crime rules.
However, prisoners engaged in paid work while serving a sentence will not usually be eligible for automatic enrolment into a workplace pension scheme.
