Knife Crime Prevention Orders: Reoffenders
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the effectiveness of knife crime prevention orders in reducing repeat offending.

Knife Crime Prevention Orders (KCPOs) were piloted by the Metropolitan Police Service between July 2021 and March 2023.
The Metropolitan Police Service conducted an impact evaluation of the pilot, which assessed the effect of the orders on reoffending rates.
The evaluation found some evidence of positive outcomes from individual requirements; however, it did not find sufficient evidence that KCPOs had a meaningful impact on reducing reoffending.
The Home Office considered the findings of the evaluation at the time and concluded that there was not enough evidence to support the national rollout of KCPOs.
