To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what steps her Department is taking to help ensure that hosting UEFA EURO 2028 provides lasting opportunities for grassroots sport.

Football reaches communities like nothing else, and hosting UEFA EURO 2028 represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to help create a lasting legacy for the grassroots game. To maximise this opportunity, the UK Government is contributing £23 million toward a joint £45 million social impact fund. Delivered through the largest-ever UEFA EURO Community Programme, this investment will help to grow a more diverse and sustainable game, supporting volunteering, and harnessing the power of sport to foster inclusivity and boost pride at all levels of football.
This legacy forms a core part of our wider, long-term commitment to supporting grassroots football and sports participation as a whole, with the UK Government investing at least £400 million in new and upgraded grassroots sport facilities, promoting health, wellbeing and community cohesion. This includes the 2026/27 Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme currently in delivery, which is investing £85 million in grassroots sports facilities across the UK.
