Pride in Place Programme

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeMinistry of Housing, Communities and Local GovernmentTabled Answered 24 June 2026UIN 10297

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, what arrangements are in place to help ensure local communities are represented in the work of the Place Unit.

Answered by Nesil Caliskan

The Place Unit will act as convenors between government departments and local stakeholders. It will build on and extend MHCLG’s strong existing engagement with communities and local leaders, ensuring the insights, priorities and voice of communities across England are reflected. The Secretary of State is also establishing a Place Steering Group to advise the Unit and ensure that government policy on place is grounded in lived experience, delivery reality and what works. It will bring together senior leaders and experts from local government, the voluntary and community sector, business and academia.
