Hydrogen

Asked by Martin WrigleyLiberal DemocratDepartment for Business and TradeTabled Answered 22 June 2026UIN 10506

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, what recent discussions they have had with the Hydrogen Sector.

Answered by Kate Dearden

Hydrogen is a frontier industry in the Industrial Strategy, assessed as one of the sectors with significant growth potential over the next decade. The government recognises its role in supporting jobs, sustainable growth and the transition to net zero.

The UK is home to world-leading hydrogen companies. I have met many companies in the UK and internationally to discuss how my department can support the sector through showcasing the UK’s leading capabilities and by unlocking opportunities both at home and overseas. My officials in the UK and overseas also engage regularly with UK-based companies across the hydrogen value chain.
