The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to the Answer of 15 June 2026 to Question 8407 on HM Coastguard: Conditions of Employment, what criteria the Maritime and Coastguard Agency will use to determine the eligibility of Coastguard Rescue Officers for backdated payments arising from the Court of Appeal judgment in Maritime and Coastguard Agency v Groom [2026] EWCA Civ 6.

Answered by Keir Mather

Pursuant to my response on 15 June to Question 8407 the Maritime and Coastguard Agency will be contacting any eligible Coastguard Rescue Officer on an individual basis who are entitled to back payments arising from the Court of Appeal judgement. All back payments calculations will meet relevant legislative and statutory obligations.
