Special Educational Needs

Asked by Wendy MortonConservativeDepartment for EducationTabled Answered 26 June 2026UIN 10635

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, with reference to the consultation “A National System for Children and Young People with SEND”, what modelling underpins the Department’s plan that the number of children and young people requiring an Education, Health and Care Plan will return to around current levels by 2035; and what assumptions were made in producing that estimate.

Answered by Georgia Gould

‘A National System for Children and Young People with SEND’ is not the title of a government document. The department’s modelling was published alongside our special educational needs and disabilities consultation in February, available at: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/send-reform-putting-children-and-young-people-first.
