Social Services: Veterans

Asked by Rebecca SmithConservativeDepartment of Health and Social CareTabled Answered 29 June 2026UIN 10788

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what data his Department holds on access to adult social care services for members of the Armed Forces community in rural areas.

Answered by Preet Kaur Gill

Currently, no assessment has been made of the adequacy of the Veterans Strategy for social care provision for veterans nor does the Department hold any data on accessing adult social care services for members of the Armed Forces Community.

Local authorities and integrated care boards routinely collect data on the numbers of serving personnel, families, and veterans in their area and include these within their Joint Strategic Needs Assessments. A local authority may decide to collect data on how many are accessing social care services, however there is no requirement to disclose this.
