To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, pursuant to the Answer of 4 June 2026 to Question 4381 on Water Supply: Eastleigh, if she will take steps to ensure that Southern Water addresses the more than 400 maintenance-related improvements identified across its wastewater assets between April 2025 and March 2026; if she will set a timetable for improvements to be completed; and what assessment she has made of the implications of those maintenance issues for the safety, reliability and resilience of water and wastewater infrastructure serving Eastleigh constituency.

Water companies are accountable for maintaining their assets and must address issues identified through Environment Agency (EA) inspections, meeting deadlines set by it as the regulator.
Timescales for improvements are set by the EA on a case-by-case basis.
The EA continues to regulate Southern Water closely and will take enforcement action where necessary to ensure timely improvements and protect the safety, reliability and resilience of infrastructure serving Eastleigh.
