Military Aircraft: Helicopters

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 26 June 2026UIN 11023

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment he has made of the contribution of the Fleet Helicopter Support Unit contract to Royal Navy readiness.

Answered by Louise Sandher-Jones

The Fleet Helicopter Support Unit (FHSU) contract makes a significant contribution to Royal Navy readiness by providing essential maritime rotary‑wing support, including training, safety and readiness checks and wider aviation generation tasks.

A new FHSU contract will begin later this year to deliver a modern, more reliable and resilient service, improving availability, safety and performance, and ensuring continued support to operational readiness over the next decade.
