To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what assessment she has made of the implications for her policies of the situation in El Obeid, Sudan; and what steps her Department is taking to help prevent atrocities there.

The UK Government is working intensively and urgently with international partners to try and prevent the loss of civilian life in El Obeid. On 18 June, the UK joined our partners in the Coalition for Atrocity Prevention and Justice at the UN Human Rights Council to call for the Rapid Support Forces to pull back immediately, and for all parties to de-escalate urgently, allow civilians to leave safely, and let aid in. The Foreign Secretary issued further statements to that effect on 18 and 21 June, and we will continue to reinforce these calls for action at every level in the coming days.
