Unmanned Air Systems: Safety

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 24 June 2026UIN 11225

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what engagement the Department has had with the Home Office and security services about counter-drone technology and public safety.

Answered by Keir Mather

The Department for Transport (DfT) is responsible for the safe integration and regulation of civil drone use, while the Home Office leads the Government’s domestic counter-drone policy.

The DfT and Home Office work closely together on counter-drone policy to ensure that safety, security and innovation issues are considered together. This includes Home Office participation in the DfT-led Future of Flight Programme Board, and DfT officials’ engagement in Home Office-led counter-drone forums and working groups.
