Rifles

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 24 June 2026UIN 11261

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many L129A1 Sharpshooter Rifles have been (a) lost, (b) stolen and (c) subsequently recovered since the introduction of the weapon.

Answered by Mr Calvin Bailey

No incidents have been raised for the loss or theft of the L129A1 Sharpshooter Rifle since its introduction into service in 2010.

The security of small arms is taken very seriously within MOD, and we have robust procedures in place to deter, detect and prevent loss and theft which are constantly reviewed. All losses and thefts of small arms are fully and rigorously investigated.
