Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for Science, Innovation and TechnologyTabled Answered 26 June 2026UIN 11231

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, what assessment she has made of trends in the level of foreign state-linked online activity during recent incidents of public disorder.

Answered by Kanishka Narayan

The government continues to work together closely to prevent attempts by hostile actors targeting the UK to threaten our public safety or sow division in our communities. DSIT, as the department responsible for the UK’s policy on disinformation aimed at UK users online, supports FCDO and HO-led work on countering information operations directed at UK interests abroad and state threats respectively. Government will take decisive action where credible threats arise, using the robust toolkit provided under the National Security Act, Online Safety Act, and other relevant UK legislation.
