Railways: North East Hampshire
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether her Department plans to improve early morning connections from North East Hampshire constituency to (a) Gatwick Airport and (b) East Croydon.
Answered by Keir Mather
The Department keeps rail services under regular review with operators, including connectivity to key destinations such as Gatwick Airport and East Croydon. Service patterns are determined through the industry timetable planning process, which balances passenger demand, operational performance and affordability.
However, Great Western Railway is currently operating a trial of some new services on its North Downs route between Reading and Gatwick Airport in the early hours of Saturday and Monday mornings during summer 2026. The success of these trial services will be reviewed in due course.
