Erasmus+ Programme
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what estimate her Department has made of the cost per placement on the Erasmus+ in each of the first five years of association.
Answered by Josh MacAlister
The UK will contribute around £570 million to the Erasmus+ programme in 2027. This is down from the approximately £810 million we would have paid under default terms.
This commitment covers the 2027/28 academic year. Any participation in Erasmus+ into the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework will need to be agreed in the future and be based on a fair and balanced contribution.
The 2026 Erasmus+ Programme Guide provides information on the grant rates for 2027.
The department expects that over 100,000 people in the UK could benefit from mobility and partnership opportunities from participation in 2027. Erasmus+ provides many other opportunities aside from mobility placements.
