Cyprus: Foreign Relations
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, what steps she is taking to help strengthen international relations with Cyprus.
Answered by Stephen Doughty
As I said on my last visit to Nicosia on 19 March, the UK and the Republic of Cyprus have a strong friendship based on a long history, and we are committed to strengthening that partnership further in the years to come. My discussions with Foreign Minister Kombos on that visit covered a range of issues, including UK-Cyprus trade, our people-to-people ties, and our shared efforts to increase security and stability in the region. Under the terms of the 2022 UK‑Cyprus Memorandum of Understanding, we will keep working to strengthen cooperation between our countries across trade and investment, defence and security, and education and research.
