General Practitioners: West Dorset
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment his Department has made of the adequacy of the condition of GP estate buildings in West Dorset.
Answered by Stephen Kinnock
NHS Dorset published their refreshed NHS Infrastructure Strategy in February 2026. This highlighted their overall plan for the primary care estate and the proposal to deliver 34 general practice schemes, which would provide an additional 7,300 m². The Department has yet to assess this plan and the level of investment required to deliver it, although elements will be under consideration where they have formed part of the national programme returns. The NHS Infrastructure Strategy is available at the following link:

We recommend that the Hon. Member for West Dorset contacts the Dorset Integrated Care Board who have offered to explain how this assessment was undertaken, where the priorities for investment in West Dorset primary care estate are focused, and the progress to date on various schemes.
