Special Educational Needs: North East Hampshire

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of the availability of suitable school placements for children with SEND in North East Hampshire who are currently out of school due to complex needs.

Local authorities are responsible for ensuring there are sufficient school places for pupils in their area, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
To support local areas in meeting this duty, we are investing at least £3.7 billion in high needs capital between 2025/2026 and 2029/2030 to provide suitable places for children and young people with SEND, or who require alternative provision. This is expected to fund a transformative expansion of inclusion bases and adaptations to improve the accessibility and inclusivity of mainstream settings. It can also be used to create special school places for pupils with the most complex needs.
In 2026/27, Hampshire received just under £26.6 million in high needs capital.
