Prisons: Electricity
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, how many prison establishments have been assessed as requiring electrical infrastructure upgrades before additional electric vehicle charging points can be installed.
Answered by Sarah Sackman
The Ministry of Justice adopts a strategic, estate-wide approach to planning electrical capacity, supporting both estate expansion and existing operations to deliver justice outcomes.
Electric vehicle charging infrastructure is one of several factors considered within overall electricity demand for the prison estate. For individual projects, electrical capacity is assessed as a standard design-stage requirement.
