Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government: Remote Working
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with reference to the answer of 20 April 2026 to Question 124640 on MHCLG: Remote Working, with what frequency data on workplace and staff attendance in regional offices is collated; and how that data is gathered.
Answered by Samantha Dixon
Workplace and staff attendance data for regional offices is compiled daily.
The Department collects this information from automated system logs. Staff attendance is tracked through device sign-in activity and office network connections, including matching login records to recognised office IP addresses or Wi‑Fi connections within departmental buildings.
The information is then processed and shown in a centralised dashboard, which is refreshed each day using the previous day’s data. It remains collected and retained for 12 months, or until the employee leaves.
