Guided Weapons: Procurement

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 30 June 2026UIN 11879

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what the specifications are for the three prototype missiles created by a) MBDA UK, b) MGI Engineering and c) Rotron Aerospace for Project Brakestop.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The Brakestop missile requirements are a range of at least 500km, carrying a warhead weighing at least 225kg, at a speed of more than 600km/hour, with a target unit cost of around £400,000 excluding the warhead. At this stage, the MOD is unable to provide detailed specifications for the three prototype missiles due to commercial sensitivities.
