Police: Council Tax

Asked by Martin WrigleyLiberal DemocratHome OfficeTabled Answered 30 June 2026UIN 11961

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if she will make an assessment of the potential financial impact on residents of Devon of harmonising police council tax precepts across larger policing areas following any future police force mergers.

Answered by Sarah Jones

The Government has commissioned an independent review of police force structures, which will consider the optimal number and configuration of police forces across England and Wales. The review is expected to conclude by the end of the summer.

The Government will consider the recommendations of the review and respond in due course.
