Fertilisers: Prices
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps she is taking to help mitigate increases in fertiliser costs for farmers in the East Grinstead and Uckfield Constituency.
Answered by Stephen Morgan
We are aware of the fertiliser price increase due to the Middle East conflict. We are actively monitoring developments in the Middle East and the impacts on our food and farming sectors, including through ongoing engagement with industry leaders.
We are supporting farmers to use nutrients more efficiently, through Defra’s Nutrient Management Planning Tool and by promoting AHDB tools for nutrient management which help farmers balance the amount of fertiliser they use with yield variation and crop prices.
