Trams: Birmingham
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what is the projected cost-benefit ratio of completing the East Birmingham tram extension.
Answered by Simon Lightwood
The East Birmingham extension is being developed by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) as part of its devolved transport programme. WMCA is responsible for developing the business case for the scheme, including its economic appraisal and assessment of costs and benefits.
WMCA has been allocated £2.4 billion of devolved Transport for City Regions (TCR) funding up to 2031/32. This settlement enables WMCA and the Mayor to determine how funding is allocated across local transport priorities.
