South West Main Line: Standards

Asked by Mr Richard HoldenConservativeDepartment for TransportTabled Answered 29 June 2026UIN 12576

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment her Department has made of the impact of public ownership on the punctuality of South Western Railway services since 25 May 2025.

Answered by Keir Mather

The Department closely monitors the performance of South Western Railway (SWR), including punctuality, through regular engagement with the operator and Network Rail. Public ownership is not a silver bullet but a vital step towards wider reform to bring track and train together under Great British Railways.
