Government: Accountability

Asked by Jim ShannonDemocratic Unionist PartyCabinet OfficeTabled Answered 7 July 2026UIN 12675

The question

To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what steps he is taking to increase transparency in Government decision-making.

Answered by Nick Thomas-Symonds

The Government publishes details of ministers’ meetings with external individuals and organisations on a quarterly basis.

Following the Prime Minister’s correspondence dated 11 March 2026, the Ethics and Integrity Commission is undertaking a review into lobbying, disclosure, and access to government.

On receipt of the EIC's report, the Government will look carefully at any recommendations to improve transparency in these areas.
