The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment she has made of the contribution of active travel investment on public health outcomes.

Answered by Lilian Greenwood

Achieving the targets set out in the Third Cycling and Walking Investment Strategy will deliver public health outcomes through improved physical and mental health. This includes an additional 5.3 million people being physically active in towns and cities by 2035 which will result in 45,000 years of life gained through reduced risk of premature death and prevent over four million sick days every year.
