Farmers: Mental Health Services
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps her Department is taking to ensure mental health support is accessible to farmers in rural areas such as North East Hampshire; and what assessment she has made of the adequacy of available provision.
Answered by Stephen Morgan
The Government understands the importance of mental health support and is committed to tackling the mental health crisis in farming communities.
This transformation is backed by new staff and protected funding for mental health, with almost 8,000 additional mental health workers recruited since July 2024 and an extra £688 million invested in mental health services this year.
The Government will also look at how it can support third sector organisations to keep delivering support for the farming community in future.
