Liverpool Street Station: Construction
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what estimate has been made of the potential impact of the Liverpool Street Station redevelopment scheme on passenger capacity during construction, including the proportion of concourse space and platforms expected to be unavailable.
Answered by Keir Mather
Maintaining services during construction is a priority. The proposed phased approach keeps the station operational throughout. While concourse capacity will be reduced in phases during construction, passenger footfall has been modelled against this to ensure the station can remain operational and meet passenger need.
Only platforms 1-2 will close for a portion of the build to allow the mezzanine extension. Services from those platforms can be re-redirected to others to enable the works as no other platforms require closure.
