Armed Forces: Training

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what is the scope of Project Spielberg.

Answered by Luke Pollard

Project SPIELBERG provides highly realistic, immersive battle effects simulation technology to support military training.

Through structured trials across Defence, Project SPIELBERG has demonstrated battle effect simulation technology can deliver more progressive, realistic and accessible training, removing the requirement for live or blank ammunition. This technology is now used in training for military dogs, ceremonial horses and Army personnel.

Further, Project SPIELBERG has evolved to address drone threat training. The project has looked to develop realistic strike drones that are safe to fly in extreme proximity to personnel and, when paired with the battle effect simulation technology, can provide an effective and realistic training environment.
