Social Rented Housing: Solar Power
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what plans he has to provide local authorities with grants to instal more solar panels on social housing stock.
Answered by Martin McCluskey
The Government's ambitious £15 billion Warm Homes Plan will upgrade up to 5 million homes and lift up to 1 million families out of fuel poverty by 2030. This includes grants for local authorities to install solar panels and batteries.
The Government announced an additional £100 million for the current financial year of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund, supporting up to 57,000 solar installations.
This is on top of the £1.29 billion initial scheme allocation, and additional £295 million announced in January.
This will help to cut bills for families across the country and better protect them from energy crises.
