Cabinet Office: Civil Servants
The question
To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office, what his policy is on whether European Union citizenship is considered to be a conflict of interest in relation to Civil Service staff working in the EU Relations Secretariat.
Answered by Nick Thomas-Symonds
All appointments and secondments must be made in accordance with the Civil Service Nationality Rules, which are statutorily based. All employees are also subject to the terms of the Civil Service Code.
Posts in the EU Relations Secretariat are non-reserved, so are open to UK nationals, Commonwealth/Irish nationals, British protected persons, EEA / Swiss Nationals, Turkish nationals and qualifying family members of EEA, Swiss or Turkish nationals.
