Domestic Waste: Waste Disposal

Asked by Sir James CleverlyConservativeDepartment for Environment, Food and Rural AffairsTabled Answered 2 July 2026UIN 13143

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate has (a) her Department and (b) WRAP made of the number of waste collection authorities that have adopted (i) three weekly or (ii) monthly collections of residual household waste.

Answered by Mary Creagh

Defra does not routinely collect data on the frequency of household residual bin collections by waste collection authorities. Local authorities can self-report this information through the WRAP LA Portal - https://laportal.wrap.ngo/uk/ , however Defra cannot verify or comment on the estimates derived from this data.
