The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many active travel schemes funded since 2020 have recorded cycling usage levels more than (a) 25 per cent, (b) 50 per cent and (c) 75 per cent below forecast levels after completion.
Answered by Lilian Greenwood
The monitoring and evaluation of active travel schemes is the responsibility of local authorities. The Department for Transport publishes evaluation guidance, and is supported by Active Travel England’s (ATE) Monitoring and Evaluation guidance for the Active Travel Fund. The department recently published our Evaluation Programme that outlines the active travel evaluations currently in development. These evaluations will include an assessment of active travel scheme usage based on information provided by local authorities.
