To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to the Answer of 23 June 2026 to Question 7712 on Asylum, whether her Department will publish the evidence, analysis and criteria used to determine that a Unique Application Number for asylum applicants is not a viable option.

The Home Office has been clear that it does not consider the introduction of a single unique application number for asylum applicants, across all government services, to be a viable option, and there are no plans to take this forward.
The Home Office’s case working system, Atlas, already holds a unique application number for all asylum applicants. The Department’s priority is to continue strengthening existing systems, including Atlas, to improve efficiency, data sharing and case working outcomes. Publishing detailed internal analysis on system design is not routinely undertaken.
