Defence: Cost Effectiveness

Asked by James CartlidgeConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 6 July 2026UIN 13508

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to page 5 of the Strategic Defence Review, published on 2 June 2025, how much of the new savings have been achieved as of 26 June 2026.

Answered by Luke Pollard

Defence has delivered significant savings and efficiencies, in line with other government departments, and as agreed with HM Treasury in the Spending Review. Departmental savings and efficiencies against these targets are due to be published by HM Treasury later this year.

The commitments set out within the Defence Investment Plan builds on the Department's track record for efficiency and saving delivery, and grows efficiency and saving delivery year-on-year through the plan.
