Boiler Upgrade Scheme: Standards

Asked by Mr Andrew SnowdenConservativeDepartment for Energy Security and Net ZeroTabled Answered 6 July 2026UIN 13612

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, how long households wait on average between approval of a Boiler Upgrade Scheme application and completion of installation.

Answered by Martin McCluskey

Installers apply for a voucher on behalf of property owners, once issued, vouchers remain valid for three or six months, depending on the technology being installed.

Ofgem, as scheme administrator, have agreed Key Performance Indicators to monitor delivery of the scheme’s core functions including voucher processing and payments. In Year 3 (April 2024 - March 2025), Ofgem issued over 99% of property owner consents within 10 working days of grant application and processed and paid 96% of voucher redemptions within 10 working days of redemption applications for air source heat pumps. The annual report for Year 4 will be published in due course.
