Drugs: Smuggling
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the press release entitled Leaders' declaration on the fight against drug trafficking, published on 17 June 2026, what assessment she has made of trends in the level of infiltration by organised drug trafficking groups into legitimate public and private institutions.
Answered by Sarah Jones
Each year the NCA assesses and publishes the key trends in organised crime in the National Strategic Assessment of Serious and Organised Crime. This includes corruption and the use of professional enablers.
Organised crime groups engaged in drug trafficking utilise various methods to facilitate, conceal and expand their illicit activity. This includes corruption and infiltration across transport, legal and financial industries.
