Drugs: Smuggling

Asked by James McMurdockIndependentHome OfficeTabled Answered 9 July 2026UIN 13730

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the Leaders' declaration on the fight against drug trafficking, published on 17 June 2026, what metrics the Government will use to assess the success of the G7 commitments agreed at the summit.

Answered by Mike Tapp

HMG uses a variety of metrics to access impact against drug trafficking and constantly keeps these under review. These include drug seizure statistics, with the latest release found here Seizures of drugs in England and Wales, financial year ending 2025 - GOV.UK, and wastewater analysis.

The UK will work closely with summit partners to monitor successes across the G7 against the commitments made.
