The question
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, with reference to the Prime Minister's Office press release entitled Leaders' declaration on tackling migrant smuggling, published on 17 June 2026, what contribution the United Kingdom expects to make towards the implementation of the declaration's commitments.

The UK has played a leading role in driving G7 action on illegal migration and migrant smuggling, turning shared political commitments into more structured collective action. The G7 Action Plan, as agreed by Interior Ministers in 2024, is the framework through which we focus our cooperation, with the Evian Leaders’ Declaration reinforcing action to disrupt organised criminal networks, including online.
The UK will continue to contribute through, for example, our landmark Border Security Summit on tackling organised immigration crime, exploring with partners the full range of factors driving illegal migration; and via the introduction of our world-first Global Irregular Migration and Trafficking in Persons sanctions regime, striking at the profits gained by smugglers.
There is no single driver or solution in tackling illegal migration; progress depends on sustained, coordinated action across the system. We will keep working with G7 partners to disrupt smugglers’ business models and reduce illegal migration.
