Community Assets

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, when Schedule 31 of the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act 2026 will be brought into force.

Answered by Nesil Caliskan

Schedule 31 of the English Devolution and Community Empowerment Act 2026 introduces a strong new community right to buy, which will empower local people to bring community spaces back into community ownership.

We are currently developing the regulatory framework to implement the new powers, alongside the new £61m Pride in Place Community Right to Buy Fund to support communities to take ownership of valued local assets. More information will be announced in due course.
