Department for Education: Social Media

Asked by Mike WoodConservativeDepartment for EducationTabled Answered 7 July 2026UIN 13818

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, pursuant to the answer of 2 June 2026, to Question 1175, on Department for Education: Social Media, how many individual social media influencers were paid in each of those two years.

Answered by Olivia Bailey

In the 2025/26 financial year, the department paid 57 individual social media influencers and content creators.

These influencers and content creators were engaged across the department’s campaigns including Skills for Life, Early Years Careers (Do Something Big), Childcare Choices, Best Start in Life, Get Into Teaching and Train others in Further Education.

As set out in the answer to Question 1175, the costs attributed to influencer activity may include production, agency and paid media costs, depending on how each campaign was procured and delivered. The figures provided should therefore not be interpreted as representing influencer fees alone.
