Asylum: MOD Bicester

Asked by Calum MillerLiberal DemocratHome OfficeTabled Answered 2 July 2026UIN 14097

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment her Department has made of the adequacy of previous proposals to develop MoD Bicester for asylum accommodation; and for what reason those proposals were not taken forward.

Answered by Alex Norris

Previous proposals relating to MoD Bicester were considered under a previous government as part of work to identify potential asylum accommodation options.

They were not taken forward following assessments of operational deliverability which were relevant at that time.

The Government’s approach is informed by lessons learned from previous large-site proposals to ensure any future accommodation is suitable.
