Marines: Finance

Asked by Ben Obese-JectyConservativeMinistry of DefenceTabled Answered 2 July 2026UIN 14041

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to the Press release “High-speed boats and new drones for elite Commando Force under Defence Investment Plan” published on 28 June 2026, what is the breakdown of the £500 million across current and future projects.

Answered by Luke Pollard

The transformation of the Commando Force has already made real progress, including the procurement of new weapons, night vision equipment and the creation of EVE, an advanced communications network.

As outlined in the press release, the Defence Investment Plan (DIP) has provided an additional £100 million of investment for transformative technology to build on this progress. The DIP also provides initial investment in new amphibious shipping.

The remainder of the spend is a continuation of Commando Force transformation, delivering the latest kit into the hands of commandos, including the investment in the high-speed Joint Commando Craft in collaboration with Norway.
