Asked by Chris CoghlanLiberal DemocratMinistry of JusticeTabled Answered 30 June 2026UIN 900718

The question

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what steps he is taking to help support women who have suffered domestic violence through the criminal justice system.

Answered by Catherine Atkinson

Our Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy, published in December 2025, sets out how we will prevent abuse, pursue perpetrators, and support victims. We are introducing a domestic abuse identifier at sentencing in criminal cases, rolling out Domestic Abuse Protection Orders and expanding Specialist Domestic Abuse Courts.
