Motor Vehicles: China
The question
To ask the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, what assessment his Department has made of the potential impact of the European Union’s consideration of further tariffs on vehicles manufactured in China, including plug-in hybrid vehicle on the UK automotive sector.
Answered by Chris Bryant
We continue to engage with the European Commission on industrial policy and will assess the potential impact of any policy measures if they are formally announced. Where there is sufficient evidence of harm caused by unfair trade practices, industries may apply to the independent Trade Remedies Authority, who conduct trade remedy investigations. Where appropriate, the TRA will recommend measures to protect UK industries, in line with domestic legislation.
